Description: ETS is deploying Junction v92.0.J1 to address an issue with permissions for specific bCourses users.

bCourses users will not be able to access specific tools (i.e. course roster, course creation) during this time.

Rollback procedures (from updated version to previous version) will be tested prior to the deployment date.

Description: On Thursday morning September 21st, starting at 6:00 am UCB Cloud team will apply security and general bug fix patches to our San Diego vCenter instance (vSphere 5.5 update 3f).

The vCenter server instance will be unavailable until 9:00am, as a result users will not be able to connect to your server consoles using the vSphere client (vmconsole.berkeley.edu).

As always you can continue to access your servers via SSH or RDP during the maintenance.

Description: One of the network switches in Evans Hall 260A will be retired and replaced with another device.

This unit must be removed before the connections can be restored to the new device.

This will result in a network outage to approximately 50% of the wired connections on the 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, and Ground floors of Evans Hall.

WiFi connections should not be disturbed in these areas. Work to be done on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 4:00am to 7:00am.

Scheduled Maintenance Network Core Direct Connections

Description: IST staff will be upgrading software on the network core routers. No interruption of service is expected.

Devices connected directly to the network core will experience link loss on each of their links sequentially as the corresponding router reloads.

During the maintenance window but before the upgrade we will be adding filters for routes sent to the core routers to avoid a memory issue encountered during a previous maintenance.

This notification is being re-transmitted since it appears to have not made it to all recipients when sent last week. Apologies for any duplicate or delayed notification.

Unscheduled Outage Software Central Products

Description: Several software products on the Software Central website (https://software.berkeley.edu) are temporarily inaccessible for download. Software products affected include, but are not limited to:

Cisco VPN Client (AnyConnect)
JMP
SAS
SPSS
MS SCEP

The access issue is related to the permission settings on the back-end service that hosts the software packages. IST is working with the vendor tech support to restore service. There is no ETA at this time.

Software that is downloaded from the vendor directly (e.g. Matlab, etc) is not affected.

Unscheduled Outage – Adobe CC Download

Description: UCB Faculty, Staff and Students are currently unable to renew/create subscriptions to Adobe Creative Cloud for use on personally-owned devices.

The interruption is due to the exhaustion of the transaction inventory available to download Adobe products from the Kivuto website.

IS&T has contacted Kivuto Services to begin the process of having the inventory replenished. Kivuto Services is located in Eastern Canada and has ended its business day.

IS&T will work early tomorrow, Tuesday Aug 29th, to initiate contact between Adobe and Kivuto to have the issue resolved. There is no ETA available.
